Here are some tips for dealing with freezing weather in Florida:
- Protect pipes: Insulate exposed pipes with fiberglass or polyethylene tubes. You can also let outside faucets drip slowly to reduce the risk of freezing.
- Protect plants: Move potted plants to a more sheltered location, like under a covered patio or against the house. You can also cover sensitive plants with old sheets or burlap.
- Protect people: Dress in layers, wear gloves and a hat, and stay out of the wind. Check on the elderly and young children, who are more sensitive to cold weather.
- Protect pets: Bring pets inside or provide them with a warm shelter.
- Practice fire safety: Only use safe heating sources inside, and follow the instructions for space heaters. Keep a fully charged fire extinguisher nearby, and never leave a lit fireplace unattended.
- Create an emergency plan: Assemble a winter emergency kit for your home and car. Include blankets, extra clothing, non-perishable food, water, a first aid kit, flashlights, and necessary medications.
- Stay informed: Listen to NOAA Weather Radio and your local radio and TV stations for updated storm information.
- Insulate your home: Evaluate the quality and condition of your home insulation.
- Water plants: Watering plants before freezing temperatures can help insulate the roots.

Board meetings are held on the third Monday of each month except for Jan and Feb, they will be the third Tuesday. The meetings begin at 6:00pm.
